We are delighted to introduce Stephanie, one of our most dedicated graduate students, who is currently pursuing her master’s degree in clinical counseling at Central Methodist University. Stephanie’s profound interest in mental health stems from her education; she received her bachelor’s degree in psychology and criminal justice from the same university. Stephanie’s educational aspirations do not stop there; she plans to pursue her doctorate in the future.
Stephanie believes that no one should face their mental health journey alone, so she takes a person-centered approach, valuing each person’s inherent strength to heal. She incorporates a Cognitive Behavioral approach seamlessly, utilizing goals and evidence-based techniques to empower clients on their individual paths to well-being. Stephanie offers a compassionate, nonjudgmental environment and is an outspoken advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
Stephanie’s experience includes a wide range of clients of various ages and backgrounds, demonstrating her commitment to cultural competence. Stephanie’s interests outside of counseling include everything from culinary adventures and music appreciation to immersing herself in literature. She enjoys the company of her two cats and enjoys going to concerts and movies. Stephanie offers herself as a compassionate ally to those seeking guidance through life’s challenges as she continues her academic and therapeutic journey.
“Your present circumstances don’t determine where you go; they merely determine where you start.” – Nido Qubein
“We would never tell someone with a broken leg that they should stop wallowing and get it together. We don’t consider taking medication for an ear infection something to be ashamed of. We shouldn’t treat mental health conditions any differently.” – Michelle Obama
