Emily Straughan

Supervised Therapist

Emily Straughan is a counseling intern pursuing her master’s degree in Clinical Counseling. She brings warmth, empathy, and a non-judgmental approach to her work, grounded in the belief that people are more good than bad. Emily strives to meet clients where they are, helping them navigate life’s challenges and find healing, no matter how difficult things may feel. She believes real change begins with acceptance, not shame, and she works to create a safe space where clients feel seen, heard, and supported.

She has experience supporting individuals through substance use, anxiety, self-doubt, and life transitions, using trauma-informed and person-centered approaches. Emily often incorporates DBT, IFS, and Polyvagal principles to help clients build self-awareness, emotional regulation, and meaningful connections. She also facilitates groups focused on recovery, mindfulness, and coping skills.

When she’s not counseling, Emily enjoys hiking, kayaking, spending time outdoors with her fiancé, and exploring stories that inspire and connect us.

If you’re looking for support navigating substance use, anxiety, or life transitions, Emily welcomes you to reach out and start your journey toward healing today.

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”  - Carl Rogers
