Frequently Asked Questions.

  • We understand that some therapists do this. However, McIntyre Psychological Services does not typically engage in free consultations. We are insurance based practice and therefore we can bill your insurance for intake sessions. This is the same process you would experience when meeting with your medical doctor’s office.

    There are a few exceptions to this. Based on the individual needs of the potential client, some private pay clients, psychological testing cases, forensic cases, and other complex cases, we may provide consultations.   • It can be difficult for clients to work through certain ways of thinking, behaving, performing and relating to others. At McIntyre Psychological Services, we provide you with an objective sounding board, support, resources and techniques so you can see your way through these blocks and achieve your desired outcomes.

  • There will be some basic paperwork to complete prior to your first session including a psychosocial history and further questions may be asked in regards to your answers during the initial session. The initial session is also the time for you to start to share more about yourself, talk about your goals and what you would like to change. Another important aspect of the first session is deciding if the therapist/counselor is the right fit. You are establishing a relationship that will become the foundation for working with your therapist. You will begin to figure out some goals; Your therapist will begin to figure out how to help you get there.

  • Upon contacting us, you will facilitate with our intake coordination team to work through the intake process. You will receive a link in your email or phone to set up your client portal. This portal will allow you to view your paperwork, billing information, scheduled session, and any other account information.

    If you are seeing your provider via telehealth, your video session will be scheduled and occur through a new link sent from our team.

  • We use a HIPAA secure and meet legal compliance requirements through the Spruce phone app. You will receive an invite to download on your phone. You can call and text this app. We will respond to you within 24-48 hours.

  • Yes. If you are participating in a face to face session, you will meet at:

    The building is considered a coworking space named “Workspace” however we rent offices inside this building. It is a gray building and there is parallel parking in the front. Your therapist will meet you in the waiting room upon arrival.

  • No. At this time, we are unable to accept walk-ins.

  • These counselors have completed the educational requirements and the field experience requirements to obtain their Master’s degrees as described above, but are as yet in the middle of their counseling residency period. This means that PLPC’s practice under weekly clinical supervision as mentioned above, but the supervisor is not in the session. Instead, each week the clinical supervisor and PLPC meet separately and discuss each of the PLPC’s cases to provide the benefit of their experience and guidance.

  • The only way to know for sure is to come in for a session. Within the first few sessions, most clients have a good sense of whether the therapist they see is a good fit for them.

  • Individual counseling and Couple’s counseling sessions are approximately 45-53 minutes and take place weekly. We understand that there may be sessions that you may need a little extra time and will accommodate that if the time is available.

    Testing and other assessments vary in length and number of sessions. Please contact info@mcintyrepsych.com when you contact us for an appointment for these types of services.

  • The therapist/counselor you are seeing will be able to give you a better idea once they have developed a good understanding of what you require. This may take one or two sessions.

  • Due to time constraints, we are unable to meet or talk with clients outside of their scheduled session. However, if you contact us and let us know you need to be seen before your next scheduled session, we will do our best to accommodate seeing you for an earlier session.

  • If you request a specific counselor to work with, we will do our best to accommodate if they have openings available for new clients. If your specific request cannot be fulfilled, we will do our best to assign you to a counselor that we feel would be a good fit for you. Also, if you are using insurance, we can only assign you to those in that specific network.

  • Unfortunately, no. If you want to be evaluated for psychiatric medication, please contact your primary care physician or psychiatrist. We are not able to prescribe medication.

  • Hours vary by clinician. Some work Monday through Friday only during days, others work evenings and weekends. You can learn more about each clinician’s hours by reviewing our About page and looking at our Wellness Team section.

  • Session fees range from $100-200. We do however offer self-pay rates, which varies by clinician. Discuss this option with our intake coordination team when you contact us for an appointment. Please note that we cannot offer discounts to most insurance clients, per our contract with health insurance companies. We do not currently offer a sliding fee scale, however we do offer lower self pay rates for those working with supervised clinicians.

  • This is entirely dependent on your health insurance company. We will provide the courtesy of verifying your benefits prior to your first session. The insurance verification process is usually within 24 hours of confirmation of your completed intake paperwork. We cannot guarantee coverage and clients are ultimately responsible to ensure their coverage is active. Clients are responsible for their bill if insurance does not cover services. Please be aware that most policies cover telehealth, but this is not guaranteed. Also, rules and regulations surrounding telehealth insurance coverage is everchanging and therefore may change with or without notice. Please also note that not all specific plans are covered, especially due to the variations within Medicaid and Medicare.

    Most psychological evaluations performed by Dr. Webb are not covered by insurance and typically require a retainer fee. Please contact us for specific details and to discuss your case.

  • No, you do not have to use your insurance. You can request the cost of self-pay when setting up services. Medicaid clients however should know that they will be charged the full cost of services. We may be able to provide payment plans upon request.

  • We require a 24 hour notice for cancellations in order to avoid a cancellation fee. Our cancellation fee is $60. If you need to cancel an appointment, please notify the office as soon as possible by calling or sending a text message to 573-315-3800. Please make sure to leave a voicemail if there is no answer.

  • This is dependent on the nature of the testing. We do not bill most insurances for testing. In most cases, we require a retainer fee. Please consult angela@mcintyrepsych.com for more information. If you are an attorney, please request a fee schedule.

  • We pride ourselves on conducting ethical and relevant evaluations for Emotional Support Animals for housing purposes. Please see the Emotional Support Animal information sheet or contact info@mcintyrepsych.com for more information.

  • McIntyre Psychological Services abides by a strict Code of Ethics and guidelines that are set by law for psychologists, LPC’s and PLPC’s; regarding confidentiality, ethics, privacy, professional conduct and responsibility to clients.

    All information that you disclose to your therapist/counselor is confidential and will not be revealed to any other person without your written permission to do so. The only exceptions to this general rule are when any of the following apply:

    Intent of Harm to Self and/or Others- If you report suicidal or homicidal ideation, plan, or attempts, this will be reported to appropriate individuals who would be responsible for the health and safety or you or others. Reasonable attempts will be made to notify if this would be reported.

    Child Abuse – If we know or have reasonable cause to suspect that a child has been abused or neglected, we must report the matter to the appropriate authorities as required by law. Adult and Domestic Abuse – If we suspect that an adult has been abused, neglected, or exploited and we have reasonable cause to suspect that the adult is incapacitated or dependent, we must report the matter to the appropriate authorities as required by law.

    Health Oversight Activities and Licensing Board – We may disclose PHI to a provider’s state professional licensing board pursuant to standards or regulations for regulation, accreditation, licensure, or certification. We would also disclose records to methods of audits or investigation of this establishment. In this case, we would make reasonable attempts to notify you in these matters.

    Judicial and Administrative Proceedings – If you are involved in a court proceeding and a request is made for information about your diagnosis and treatment or the records thereof, such information is privileged under state law, and we will not release information without the written authorization of you or your legally appointed representative or a court order. Furthermore, if in your provider’s reasonable professional judgment, she or he believes that you pose a direct threat of imminent harm to the health or safety of any individual, including yourself, she or he may disclose PHI to the appropriate persons. However, the privilege does not apply when you are being evaluated for a third party or where the evaluation is court ordered (see below). Some of the reasons for which may include but is certainly not limited to the following; lawsuit, child custody case, criminal matters, or information to an individual who is performing duties authorized by law.

    Military- Our practice may disclose your PHI if you are a member of the U.S. Armed Forces, a veteran, or a member of foreign military forces for activities deemed necessary by appropriate military command authorities, including the Department of Veteran’s Affairs for the purpose of your eligibility for or entitlement to certain benefits provided by law.

    National Security- Our practice may disclose your PHI to federal officials for intelligence and national security activities authorized by law. We also may disclose your PHI to federal officials in order to protect the President, other officials or foreign heads of state, or to conduct investigations.

    Inmates- Our practice may disclose your PHI to correctional institutions or law enforcement officials if you are an inmate or under the custody of a law enforcement official. Disclosure for these purposes would be necessary: (a) for the institution to provide health care services to you (b) for the health, safety and security of the institution, and its officers and employees and/or (c) to protect your health and safety or the health and safety of other individual.
