During her practicum at the CMU Clinical Counseling Center, Lisa worked primarily with college students through telehealth, supporting them through a variety of academic and personal challenges.

Her current areas of expertise include stress and anxiety management, coping skills, self-esteem building, and navigating academic and life transitions. In addition to her clinical work, Lisa is a lifelong learner and mental health advocate who has completed advanced training in Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), suicide prevention through the Zero Suicide Institute’s Counseling on Access to Lethal Means (CALM) program, and Psychological First Aid (PFA) through the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN).

With a previous Master’s degree in English Literature from the University of Central Missouri, Lisa has also worked as a full-time college instructor. She brings her passion for education into her therapy work, empowering clients with knowledge, insight, and emotional tools to thrive. Outside of work, Lisa enjoys traveling, reading, jogging, hiking, theater, watching sports, and spending time with her family and friends.

Meet Lisa! She is a warm, insightful, and dedicated Clinical Counseling intern currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling with a focus on Mental Health at Central Methodist University. Now in her third year of training, Lisa is passionate about creating a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, accepted, and empowered to grow. She strives to build strong therapeutic relationships grounded in trust, authenticity, and collaboration. Lisa believes that therapy should be a place where people can explore who they are, gain new insights, and develop the tools they need to face life’s challenges with confidence and resilience.
