Merri Copeland-Cook

Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor

Merri is a highly experienced therapist passionate about helping clients establish and restore a confident, healthy lifestyle. With over 9 years of experience in outpatient and forensic settings, she specializes in working with individuals throughout the legal process, particularly those involved in sexualized violence, sexual offense behaviors, and antisocial lifestyles. Merri is certified in sex offender evaluations and uses tools like STATIC-99R, STABLE 2007, SSPI, and SOTIPS.

She adopts an open-minded, non-biased approach to sex offense therapy, helping clients reduce their risk in the community. Merri also specializes in bariatric evaluation and counseling, drawing from her own experience with Gastric Bypass. She supports clients pre- and post-operation, addressing their unique needs and emotional changes.

Merri is trained in evidence-based approaches such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and is exploring Integrated Sex Therapy. She also works with couples, children, and families seeking positive change, emphasizing motivation, dignity, and respect.

“I view my work with clients as collaborative. They bring a lot to the table, and I walk with them through the process, offering support, safety, direct feedback, and challenging thoughts or beliefs that hinder progress.” - Merri
