Sarah Roland

Supervised Therapist

Sarah’s approach is both active and directive, but she emphasizes partnership in therapy, empowering clients to set the direction of their healing journey. She focuses on helping individuals identify and transform core beliefs, challenge negative thought patterns, and better understand their emotions—all essential steps toward reducing distress and fostering growth. She also prioritizes teaching clients about locus of control and effective self-advocacy, including working toward positive societal change.

Sarah has a strong interest in supporting individuals who have experienced trauma across the lifespan—whether in childhood, adolescence, or adulthood—as well as those involved with the criminal justice system. She brings over six years of experience working in corrections and has extensive expertise working with clients facing addiction and trauma-related challenges. Sarah is committed to providing empathetic, nonjudgmental support to help her clients move toward healing and empowerment.

Sarah is a compassionate and experienced therapist who primarily uses cognitive-behavioral and behavioral approaches, while also incorporating Emotion-Focused and Feminist concepts into her work. She actively utilizes Motivational Interviewing to help clients recognize their readiness for change and to support goal-setting in a collaborative, client-centered way. Sarah values the therapeutic relationship deeply and believes that change begins when clients feel truly heard, understood, and free of judgment.
